More opportunities to get involved in the work of God’s kingdom and make a difference in the lives of others!
DO YOU HAVE A HEART FOR:
- Sharing the Good News with those who need to get to know the Lord?
- Communicating person to person, through the Internet, social media, or printed word?
Speak with Tom Peconge about joining the Evangelism Team.
- Caring for our church members who are ill, shut-in, or troubled?
- Visiting, calling, or writing to our homebound members–helping them know that their church still loves them and cares for them?
- Would you be willing to take some flowers to someone after church?
Speak with Heidi Rudolph or Debra Kiefer about joining the Care Committee.
A new choir season is beginning. Rehearsals are on Sundays at 9 AM. Are you interested in adding your voice to lead our congregation at worship and make beautiful music for the Lord? Speak with Tracy Meihls.
Did you know that you don’t need to be able to read music to play handbells? Practice will start up again Thursday, October 3 at 6 PM. Please speak with Barb Weiford or sign the sheet on the bulletin board if you are interested in being a ringer.
Tuesday, September 17
The Deborah Esther Circle invites you to join them at their next meeting on Tuesday, September 17. Please note that this is one week later than their normal monthly meeting day. The group will gather at noon for lunch. Please bring a sandwich for your lunch, and dessert will be served. After a short business meeting the ladies will be assembling the personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief. All ladies of the church are welcome!
Sunday, September 15th
Our first meeting for the fall will be Sunday, September 15th, after the service. Continuing where we left off at the beginning of summer, we will begin our study of the 3rd Article of the Creed.
Heroes of the Faith – Sunday, September 29
It’s hard for us to imagine that–even in this day–Christians in some other parts of the world suffer persecution for their faith. Please plan to join us after the service on September 29th. After packing the shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, lunch will be served and then we will view a video about Richard Wurmbrand, a Lutheran pastor from Romania who was tortured for 8 years because he refused to give in to the communist regime and stop preaching God’s word. Don’t miss this opportunity to get to know a modern-day hero of the faith and learn what led him to be the founder of “Voice of the Martyrs”.
WEDNESDAY SEPT. 18, 7PM
Friends, I’d like to invite you to come and enjoy an ice cream sundae or a root beer float with me on the evening of September 18. Honestly, there’s no special reason for this event–only a chance to build up the fellowship of our church family. Let’s just set aside a few minutes in the middle of the week to visit, chat, and pray together. Mark your calendars and come to the Bethany Room around 7 PM. I really hope you’ll come.
PERSONAL CARE KITS for LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF are being collected and assembled by the Deborah Esther Circle. These are the items that we need:
- Sturdy Combs
- Bath Size Bars of Soap (4 oz)
- Dark Colored Bath Towels (27″x52″ Maximum Size)
- Adult Size Toothbrushes
- Metal Nail Clippers
If you have any questions, please see Carol Skinner.
September is not a time when most of us think about Christmas, but it’s the right time to think about Operation Christmas Child. We’ll be filling shoe boxes with gifts to share the joy of Christmas with children of the world who may have never heard the name of Jesus before.
A display table has been set up in the Bethany Room to provide suggestions for donation ideas. Items will be accepted through September 22nd. Monetary donations are also welcome.
This year we are using preprinted boxes. We do not need any additional shoe boxes donated. This provides an option for someone to take one home, fill it, and return it. Filled boxes need to be returned by September 22 so an accurate count can be taken and shipping costs can be arranged.
Please see Todd Campbell with any questions.
SHARE THE JOYFUL MESSAGE OF CHRIST’S BIRTH THROUGH OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD!
